This month has certainly been filled to the brim with blessings here at North Platte Area Habitat for Humanity.
We spent the month counting our blessings with our 30 Days of Gratitude calendar. By taking time each day to consider how fortunate a person is who enjoys the convenience of a dishwasher in their home or even locks on their doors we were able to take a moment to think of those who don't share our good fortune. If you missed out on our 30 Days of Gratitude calendar, you may find a link to it at our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/npahfh.
November 17th saw the dedication of our 50th House to our Partner Family, Hillary Turner. The warm and sunny day brought out the biggest attendance we've ever had at one of our Dedication Ceremonies. After she received the keys to her home, Hillary invited everyone in for a tour. This house has the distinction of being the first two bedroom home we've ever built and Hillary has the distinction of being the first single person we've built a house for.
We held our annual Open Application period and distributed over 85 applications, the most ever and received 40 of those back. Again, the most we've ever received. We are anxious for our Family Selection Committee to do their work and reveal to us our next Partner Families.
Our first ever "Promotional House", generously donated to us by the Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity affiliate, now stands at the Platte River Mall, ready to share the good news of Habitat with mall shoppers during this holiday season and beyond.
North Platte Area Habitat for Humanity was welcomed in to the Downtown Association this month providing us an opportunity for additional community involvement and outreach. We are excited about this new partnership.
As you can see, North Platte Area Habitat for Humanity continues to enjoy a wonderful relationship with North Platte and our partners here. Such a blessing to be a part of a giving and caring community. We are truly grateful.
