Living with Intention

Happy New Year everyone! Yes, I know, I am about a week overdue on those sentiments. But they are heartfelt, so there's that.

At this time of year it is customary to set your New Year's Resolutions. Ways you hope to improve in the new year, bad habits you'd like to break, new ones you'd like to start. And it is also customary to have broken (at least) one of those resolutions by now.

This year, instead of New Year's Resolutions, let's cut ourselves a break. Instead of resolutions that make us feel like failures when we cannot live up to them...let's begin by asking ourselves, what is really important to me and how can I have more of that in my life? Who are the people I want in my life? What are the challenges I'd like to tackle? What are the gifts I can give to myself and others? Decide what you'd like your life to look like and move with some intention towards that. Let's start Living with the Intention we deserve.

Our affiliate will be undergoing some major transitions over the next year. We will be creating at least one new staff position, we will be losing some treasured board members and looking for talented and eager new members, reevaluating our fund raising efforts and taking a hard look at the number of houses we build and how that gets done. All of these changes cannot effectively happen without a good plan, a strong support system and some intention behind each one of these transitions.

We are lucky though, our affiliate is surrounded by people who care about our success and frankly, people who depend upon our success. We cannot let them down.

So each decision we make this year will be proactive...intentional. Each move we make will be well thought out...intentional. We must be intentional to successfully maneuver our organization towards effective change. We will not allow ourselves to succumb to distractions or be sidelined. Our homeowners, donors, volunteers and community depend on us and we cannot let them down.

We will Live with Intention.
