Kira Kautz

Ms. Veterinarian

Born and raised in North Platte, I am so blessed to be able to do what I love in a community I love even more!  My name is Dr. Kira Kautz and I am so excited and humbled to be Ms. Veterinarian for Habitat for Humanity contest of 2020.

Growing up, I was surrounded by an amazing community of friends and family who convinced me I could do anything I wanted. I decided at a really young age that I wanted to be a “Betterinarian”, so I put my head down, dug my heels in, and started working toward that goal. I am proud of my accomplishments in education through Chadron State College and Oklahoma State University, but am more proud to put my knowledge and skill to work every day doing what I love for the most amazing creatures with their wonderful humans (most of them) in the same community that pushed me to be the veterinarian I am today.

My life wound not be complete without my amazing family and friends. My husband, Jeremy, and I are raising two talented, spunky boys each with very different personalities and interests of their own; Greyson ( 9) and Kellen ( 6). We are so blessed to be surrounded by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings from both sides of our family, and some of the very best, life-long friends anyone could hope for; we absolutely love getting to share the joys and trials of parenting and life in general with all of them.  And of course no home would be complete without pets so we share ours with two labradoodles ( Papi and Agnes), a hamster (Rhino) , and a gecko (Leo).

For a period of time in my life, I moved around a lot and was shuffled from house to house, not really knowing where I was going, with whom, or for how long. As an adult, I make it a priority to make sure my family is safe and has a house to call HOME. I feel that Habitat for Humanity does exactly that for families who are gifted by their homes and could not be more proud, humbled, elated, and excited to align with such an amazing organization. I am truly blessed to be pulled from my own comforts to raise funds and awareness for Habitat for Humanity.

THANK YOU!
